Bettsometer, 1000g • d=10g, blue
with test needle and 2 drag pointersItem No.: 41000/13
Bettsometer: Precision force gauge for testing the tensile strength of tissue with a drag pointer
General: The following points are in addition to the enclosed, general operating instructions of the scales of the Medio Line scales attached.
Safety: The bettsometer 41000/13 may only be used by instructed professionals. This device must never reach the hands of children. The pointed test needle must never be used against living beings.
Attention: Big danger of injury! When not using the bettsometer, carefully place the gray foam sausage on the needle tip and store the instrument in its transparent packaging
Instruction manual
1. Preferably lay the bettsometer in horizontal measuring position on a table, the test needle freely directed downwards over the edge. The needle tip shall not touch anything to prevent premature wear.
2. Adjust the zero point in this horizontal measuring position using the tare screw on the top of the balance.
3. Move the white drag pointer close to the zero point. (A second drag pointer is included as a reserve).
4. Lay the fabric to be tested (e.g., balloon silk, kite, parachute, sail) flat on a table.
5. Fix fabric gently with a wide clamp to the table edge (e.g. with 2 wooden slats and screw clamps).
6. Using one hand (possibly a second person), gently tension tissue across the edge of the table horizontally.
7. Hold the bettsometer at the bottom of the test needle and push it vertically down through the slightly stretched fabric. ATTENTION: Do not touch the slave pointer.
8. Hold the bettsometer by the handle and slowly pull it away from the table. Pull at a constant speed for each subsequent measurement. (It is intended that the test needle tip is oriented slightly diagonally in the pulling direction of the balance).
9. Accurately observe the tissue at the point of needle penetration.
10. As soon as the tissue gives way and starts audibly, immediately stop pulling and relax the bettsometer.
11. The slave pointer stops when the fabric is torn off. ATTENTION: Do not touch the slave pointer before the measured value is documented.
12. Carry out further measurements elsewhere on the tissue and also document them.
13. The weakest tear strength is the measure of tissue replacement. The definition of tear forces is to be defined by the tissue manufacturer.
14. PESOLA accepts no liability for any injury resulting from the use of the bettsometer nor for any misinterpretation of the results of the measurement of the tested fabric. PESOLA is not liable for any consequential damage of material or persons during subsequent use of tested fabrics.
Replacement of the test needle: Easy exchange in case of a butt after intense use.
